{Five} of Our Favorite Things

It's been {yet another} busy, but wonderful week for me and the {His}.  We kicked it off by heading to the Scissor Sisters concert with a great group of friends last Sunday evening.  It was fantastic fun and {as expected} a fantastic dance party too!!  After such a fun start to the week, the rest flew by consumed mainly with work and triathlon training for the {His} and school plus after-school studying for me.  We're looking forward to a great weekend with the {His'} parents coming up for a visit, during which I'll be giving my mother-in-law a haircut for one of my practical exams.  God bless her for traveling up to Chicago to be a hair model for me!!  Wishing all of you a happy weekend!!  Here's just {five} of our favorite things from this past week...

Hers - Lazy Evening

Some evenings, after school/work, I'm too lazy to change into a non-black look.  Tired from the day's activities, I'd rather just throw on a comfortable shoe and enjoy the mild summer evening with the {His} than create a completely new ensemble for just a few hours of wear. Such was the case with the outfit below.  I swapped my flats for my BucketFeet kicks and tote for a clutch and was ready to head back out the door in just minutes.  Sometimes that's all you need to recharge... a lazy evening to reset and relax.

His & Hers Picks - Summer Shirts

The weatherman's saying it's supposed to be 100 degrees here in Chicago tomorrow... 100 degrees?!  We thought high 90's was hot enough.  All this talk of summer heat has us seeking out every possible source of relief, including lightweight summer shirting.  We recently stumbled upon these two cuties with fun details and incredible prices.  We just had to share!!  I think we could deal with a little heat if it included us slinking into these sleek shirts...

His - BucketFeeted

We've been cruisin' the city BucketFeeted these days.  You saw one way I styled my pair of Untitleds {here}.  Now it's the {His'} turn to share what he's been pairing with his Fuegos.  Those bright red kicks have quickly become his favorite shoe of choice.  They easily add life to any ensemble and are every bit as comfortable as they look ~ the perfect shoe for strolling the city in style.

We've made it to Friday AND the official start to summer ~ happy summer solstice!! It's been a great, albeit rather busy and hot, week here in Chicago. We're looking forward to a bit of a cool down this weekend, from both the heat and the hustle and bustle. We're also particularly excited to head to the Scissor Sisters concert with friends on Sunday.  It's guaranteed to be a great show and dance party!! Here's to a happy weekend and just {five} of our favorite things from this past week...

His & Hers Picks - BucketFeet

Nearly one year ago to the day we shared {this} post on a remarkable, globally inspired footwear brand called BucketFeet.  Well, one year later and our love for this company and their overall mission hasn't waned.  Their uniquely designed shoes and collaborative brand vision continue to connect consumers and artists across the globe while supporting valuable community programs.  Pretty impressive, right?!  If you haven't checked them out yet, there's no better time than the present!!  In the past year, BucketFeet has continued to expand their portfolio of artist collaborations, shoe designs, and community outreach...

Be sure to check out their full story {HERE} then pop over to their online shop to purchase your own pair of wearable art {HERE}!!  You can also access a list of retails near you {HERE}.

Curious which pairs of BucketFeet we're sporting these days??  We're diggin' the Fuego and Untitled lace-ups designed by Co-Founder and Creative Director, Aaron Firestein {you may  remember them from last week's {Five} Favorite Things}...

His - Jean Scene

I'm missing my man like crazy at the moment.  He's been traveling the past few days and pulling this post together only made me miss him more.  Thankfully, he'll be home and in my arms in just a few short hours!!  Before he headed off, we enjoyed a casual date in our corner of Chicago.  It was a wonderfully mild evening and a welcomed reprieve from the heat we've been having.  The {His} enjoyed the opportunity to slink back into some jeans ~ an item he misses sporting when the mid-summer heat starts kicking.

His & Hers Inspiration - Hair Envy

I spent a good portion of my weekend crunching away at a big project for school.  I'm pulling together a comprehensive "Look Book" of cuts, colors, styles, etc. to use with clients during consultations when I hit the salon floor later this summer.  It's been an incredibly fun assignment and endless source of inspiration.  I found myself getting completely lost in the work.  The best part is, although my "Look Book" will be finished by the due date, it's something that will never be complete.  I'll forever be adding and taking away as styles change and new looks inspire.  Here's a little peek at some of the looks I'm currently coveting...
