His - Triathlon

The {His} is on "outfit post holiday" this week {and rightfully so} following an impressive go at the Chicago Triathlon this past Sunday.  After months of dedicated training, it all came to an end in just under three short hours {although the {His} would beg to differ those hours were far from short}.  I cheered my heart out from the sidelines ~ literally yelling "I LOVE YOU, ERIC!" as he passed toward the end of the race.  I couldn't have been more proud of what he'd accomplished.  The race is such an amazing feat of mental and physical toughness.  It's rather inspiring to spectate.  So much so that I'm considering giving it a go myself next year.  We'll see... maybe I'll surprise you, and myself!!

{ mid-way through the last leg of the race ~ I'm cheering and snapping away ~ the {His} is powering through and waving ~ after this I scurried to the finish line to take in the excitement and prep for the {His} to cross the line!! }

His & Hers Inspiration - San Diego Dreams

The {His} and I are headed to Coronado Island, off the coast of San Diego, California, this week for his sister's wedding and a vacation.  We're incredibly excited about the upcoming festivities, extended time with the family, and a week of impossibly perfect California sun and surf.

His - Playing Host

This past weekend the {His} and I played host to his parents.  It was a wonderful weekend that of course went by all too fast, but we did our best to squeeze as much sightseeing and delicious dining we could into the two days.  We kicked off their visit Friday night by grabbing pre-dinner cocktails on the 96th floor of the Hancock building, which is where we captured {this} shot.  There really are stunning views of the city, particularly at night, from that lofty spot.  The {His} broke out his new oxfords for the occasion and I was able to snap a few shots before we darted off into the hustle and bustle of the weekend.

Instagram Link Party!

As you may remember from last week, our blogging buddy Ashley, from a {little} dash of ash, is hosting an Instagram LinkUp party each Monday on her blog.  Last week we shared {this} Instagram capture during her LinkUp and below is this week's.  It's our favorite capture from the weekend.  We were being tourists in our own town while the {His'} parents were in visiting.

Hers - Baby Blues

Some frocks are just too fun to be sitting in the back of your closet waiting for the right occasion to be worn.  Sometimes the occasion needs to be made.  Such was the case for me with this chic cerulean blue number.  I originally purchased and wore it to my brother's rehearsal dinner, a few days shy of a year ago, but had only worn it one other time since.  I loved the rich blue color, conservative cut, and side sweeping layer from the moment I set eyes on it and couldn't stand letting it go unnoticed another day.  So, I decided to bring it out of hiding for a nice dinner with friends at Mercat a la Planxa last Saturday night.  I think I'll need to break out this baby blue again soon.

His & Hers Picks - Colour & Cutouts

In Monday's inspiration post, we shared two looks we're currently craving ~ rich colours, such as mustard yellow, brick red, tobacco brown, and forest green, and the subtle sexiness of the shoulder cutout.  Both looks are perfect for this transitional time of year, when the sun is still shining full in the sky and the temperatures are just as comfortable as can be.  So, we went in search of a handful of colour and cutout pieces to satisfy those current cravings...
