Hers - Neutrally Nonchalant

As much as I've loved seeing all this season's trends interpreted in bright, bold colors {i.e. color blocking and ombre}, I've been feeling the nonchalant nature of neutrals more than ever.  I continue to be drawn to garments more muted than vibrant.  The same has been true when selecting nail colors.  While there are countless bright and sparkly hues to select from this season, I continue to be drawn to those understated nudes.  Perhaps a style shift is on the horizon??  I guess we'll have to wait and see...

His & Hers Picks - Ombre

Ombre is a French term meaning "shaded."  It's usually arranged as multicolor stripes with colors graduating from light to dark.  The color effect is quite striking and recently been popping up all over the style scene in the form of fashion, hair coloring, nail polishing, and more.  It's a trend we're loving in all it's lovely shades and tones.

His - About Town

The summers always seem to fly by more quickly than we'd like.  That's why we cherish beautiful weekend afternoons that are free of any plans.  We'll spend those days just wandering the city enjoying the goings-on about town.  Those afternoons seem to float by as sweetly as a song ~ kind of like "a sunday smile" {listen here}.

{Five} of Our Favorite Things

I've been flying solo this week.  I traveled to Columbus, Ohio to spend time visiting my family while the {His} stayed back in Chicago for work and to hold down our fort.  Although I've missed my man, it's been SO wonderful for me to be with my family this week.  I've had so much fun catching up with everyone, giggling about silly things and the old days, eating delicious home-cooked meals, and just being around those I love so dearly!!  To my wonderful family ~ Thank for taking me in this week.  I love you more than words!!

Hers - Summer Solstice

I've been craving lighthearted, colorful patterns and accessories with the arrival of the summer solstice ~ anything to add a bit of summer whimsy into my wardrobe.  In Chicago, we wait all year for these beautifully balmy days, so any chance we get to dress in light, airy pieces calls for a celebration!!  And what else says celebration better than a punch of color and pattern.  Here's to a long happy summer!!

His & Hers Picks - BucketFeet

We believe fashion is all about having a little fun while creating a personal style that represents your unique tastes and interests.  But, when that personal style can be worth it's weight in gold, that's just fabulous.  And that's exactly what Aaron Firestein and Raaja Nemani have accomplished over at BucketFeet.  They're not only creating one-of-a-kind designed, lightweight, unisex, and super comfortable kicks, they're also making a change one step at a time.

BucketFeet shoes are literally wearable art, designed by up-and-coming artists from across the globe, that are not only bringing attention to the arts, but also helping kids worldwide.  Every purchase will go toward supporting their partner organizations, which focus on helping children in need in a creative way.  BucketFeet partners include MAGIC, love.futbol, and Children Mending Hearts.  Read more about getting involved and how you can become a member of their supportive community by tracking purchases and donations {here}.

His - Fresh Crop

The {His} received a fresh crop last week.  Although I was sad to see his longer hair go, the {His} was happy to shed the extra fur before the dog days of summer arrive.  In fact, today marks the first official day of summer with the summer solstice.  It will be our longest day of the year, but I can't help imagining what the bright skies will look like over Iceland on this day.  Wishing all of you, around the world, a happy summer solstice!!

His & Hers Inspiration - These Pretty Streets

We find a great deal of style inspiration from other blogs and the streets, which is why we're addicted to street style sites.  We're constantly collecting street spotted looks for a source of never-ending inspiration.  It's been a bit since we've shared a few of our favorites, so I pulled together a handful of looks we're currently loving from these pretty streets...

Her - Inner Child

I recently came across this photo of me when I was younger.
It was a great reminder to embrace my inner child ~
never stop playing and never stop having fun.

P.S. What do you think about the bowl cut?!?!
I think it's screaming inspiration for my next cut!  ;)

Hers - At The Fair

I love wearing white jeans on a cool summer day and that's exactly what I gravitated to last Sunday as the {His} and I readied to head to the Old Town Art Fair.  I combated the crisp air by laying my favorite military-inspired anorak over a super feminine bow-neck blouse.  The juxtaposed pairing worked brilliantly in keeping me cozy and I loved the relaxed, yet pulled-together, style.  We purchased two pieces of art that day, one of which I'll share in tomorrow's {Five} of Our Favorite Things.  The other piece will arrive in a few weeks, but is already on our Favorite Things docket!
