Hers - Ballet Inspired

Last Sunday, the {His} and I headed out for dinner and a concert ~ the British Sea Power concert at Lincoln Hall.  The concert was spectacular and the venue is always my favorite.  They have delicious food, perfect for a pre-concert bite, amazing sound, and a guaranteed view of the performing band.  I pulled together a ballet-inspired ensemble for the occasion.  I'd been itching to create a look around a pretty, feminine, flowy, ballet pink dress that I had purchased via Etsy several months back.  Since we're still experiencing chilly temps in Chicago, I had to add layers for warmth.  I think it all came together well and I felt ready for a twirl at the show.

His - Fortress

There's a building in our neighborhood that looks just like a fortress.  I've always been captivated by it's design and curious about what it looks like inside it's walls.  I may never know, but it's fun to look and wonder.  So, as we headed out one night this weekend, I took my fortress, the {His}, by this very spot.  He was dressed in layers of blacks and grays ~ a shelter from the never-ending cold ~ with only the slightest hint of red at the sock.  We not only daydreamed about that ancient house, but also of warmer days when we could wear {these} inspired looks.

{Five} of Our Favorite Things

We're really looking forward to this weekend and some much needed relaxation time.  The past couple weeks have been go, go, go, so it'll be nice to slow-down, regroup, and just be with my {His}.  Sunday evening we'll be headed to Lincoln Hall for the British Sea Power concert, which the {His} is pretty fired-up about.  Other than that, no real plans, which is pretty nice!!  Just creating more favorite things, like these {five} from this week...

{ delicious Tofurky pizza from Whole Foods }

{ tea cups used as flower pot center pieces at a luncheon at the Casino Club }

{ the {His'} bedside pocket square & bandana collection ~
which now includes this dotty number }

{ a new polka dotted iPhone case ~ because we clearly have an addiction to dots }

{ enjoying creative & savory cocktail concoctions with the {His} at a
preview for the new Bridge Bar }

P.S. What's one of your favorite things from this week??

Hers - The In-Between

More than ever, I'm feeling the in-between of the seasons.  The nowhereness of the middle.  I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing ~ just a thing, just a feeling, just a time in life.  Regardless, that's exactly how this outfit came together.  A combination of old, blanketing classics and new, breezy models.  All beautiful pieces in their own rite, and I think work just perfectly all together in the between.

His & Hers Inspiration - Advanced Style { Age & Beauty }

A friend of mine shared this video with me via NOWNESS and I couldn't resist sharing it with you stat!!  The women featured are BEYOND fabulous!!  I love their overall approach to life and style, as they're embracing, and having so much fun expressing, their unique personal styles regardless of age and fashion's "rules."  I think their message is incredibly inspiring and an attitude I hope to champion for many, many years to come!!

P.S. Thanks Megan!!

His & Hers Picks - Dotty Delights

I don't know about you, but I LOVE a polka dot and so does the {His}!!  It's such a classic pattern that anyone can wear with the greatest of ease, particularly in an accessory.  There are a plethora of delightfully dotty accessories out there, but one iteration we're loving most is in head and neck wrap form ~ think bandanas, scarves, and neck ties.  These are just a few we've currently gone dizzy over...

His - Range of Blues

Recently the {His'} favorite color palette has been a monochromatic mix of sorts consisting of a range of blues ~ navy, chambray, and dark denim.  I have to admit I love the look.  It's polished and pulled together, but in a casual, easy-going way.  Perfect for an evening of relaxation and recreation on the town, which is exactly where we were headed.

His & Hers Inspiration - Neutral Classics

Good Monday morning!!  I love kicking off a new week with a healthy dose of street style inspiration.  So here we go... I was instantly drawn to each of these lovely folks by their classically modern dress.  They're all grounded in delicious carmel-colored neutrals and wearing very modern silhouettes, yet they seamlessly appear to be inspired by eras ago.  To top it all off, how fabulous is that hat in the last shot?!?  I think I must get one stat!!

For Japan With Love

Many of us have been struck by the overwhelming sadness and devastation taking place in Japan.  Their grave plight quickly puts everything into perspective.  It reminds us to hold tighter to those we love and to appreciate the little things just that much more.  While we generally dedicate Friday's post to celebrating the little things in our lives, tomorrow our page will be silent.

In an effort to bring many together to both help and pay respect to those lost and suffering in Japan, Utterly Engaged and Ever Ours have organized For Japan With Love, a bloggers' day of silence on Friday, March 18th.  We hope you'll also take this moment to send your prayers to those across the Pacific or, if you've been looking for a way to donate, provide a small contribution to the coinciding Shelter Box relief fund.

Hers - Lovely Day for a Stroll

Yesterday was one of the loveliest days we've had since fall.  The {His} and I took advantage of the newly granted evening daylight and pleasant temps by taking a stroll through our neighborhood.  It was so nice to get out, especially after being cooped up inside while we've been feeling under the weather, and wonderful to see so many other neighbors doing the same.  The weatherman promises an even warmer day today.  Perfect timing for St. Patrick's Day!!  Slainte!!

His - Midnight Blue

I posted only a little peek at the {His'} new favorite blazer {here} and warned you {here} that you'd likely be seeing a lot of it this spring.  Well, here it goes!!  This navy Rag & Bone blazer, that the {His} found for practically nothing, fit so perfectly off the rack that it's only fitting it should be his spring co-star.  Plus, it's that perfect midnight blue blazer that every man should have in his closet ~ classic, timeless, and pairs back to so many pieces in a man's wardrobe.

His & Hers Inspiration - Brighter Days

This past weekend, by most accounts, was a great one.  However, I woke up to Sunday's spring-forward time change with a killer sore throat that's knocked me out for the count.  I didn't move far from the comfort of our couch yesterday and, other than a morning trip to the doctor, don't see myself moving much farther today either.  Such a bummer!!  But, with longer daylight hours in full swing, I'm happy and grateful to have copious amounts of brighter days on the horizon!!
